Funeral Plan FAQs

Common Questions About Our Funeral Plans

We understand that planning ahead can raise questions about costs, flexibility, security and what happens in the future. Below are some of the most common questions families ask us about funeral plans, helping you feel informed, reassured and confident about your choices.

What is a funeral plan?

A funeral plan allows you to arrange and pay for your funeral in advance. It can help record your wishes, reduce uncertainty for your family and provide greater clarity around future funeral costs.

How do funeral plans work?

You choose the funeral arrangements that suit your wishes, then the plan is set up through Open Prepaid Funerals. Payments are managed separately, with the agreed funeral arrangements recorded for the future.

Are funeral director fees fixed?

The funeral director’s fees included within the plan are based on today’s prices. This can help protect against future increases, although some third-party costs may change depending on the terms of the plan.

Is my money protected?

Plans are arranged through Open Prepaid Funerals, a regulated third-party provider. Funds are managed separately from the funeral director, helping provide reassurance that your money is protected if circumstances change in future.

Can I change my funeral plan later?

In many cases, changes can be made to your funeral wishes or arrangements after the plan has been set up. We can explain what can be amended and any terms that may apply.

Can I pay for a funeral plan in instalments?

Payment options are available through the funeral plan provider and may include different ways to pay. We can explain the available options and help you understand which approach may suit your circumstances.

What happens if I move house?

Your funeral plan is not necessarily tied to one funeral director. If you move area, the plan can remain valid and arrangements can be discussed with the provider to ensure continued support.

Can I take out a plan for someone else?

Funeral plans are usually taken out for someone who is still living, and it may be possible to arrange one for another person. We can explain the process and what information is required.
